On Saturday 9th May 2015 a team of Likely Lads, including three A&M employees, took on a daring challenge to compete in the Keswick to Barrow Walk, covering 40 miles in one day.

One of the Lads, Jason Mansfield says; “it was a huge challenge and we all found it difficult at points. The weather wasn’t exactly on our side at the start but it improved and all in all it was a great day”.

The route, which not only covers a great distance but also a varying degree of heights, took the team through some beautiful countryside in addition to some remote villages. Starting at Rough How Bridge, three miles south of Keswick, and finishing at Hawcoat Park Sports Club on the outskirts of Barrow In Furness, the walkers are guided through a variety of challenging sections pushing them to their limit.

The team of Likely Lads, who were raising money for Cancer Research UK have together raised in total over £1000.

Cancer Research UK raises money to support scientists, doctors and nurses to help beat cancer sooner. Relying solely on donations, Cancer Research UK has been able to save millions of lives through the help and support of its fundraisers.

“Everyone has been really generous in their support and we were encouraged along the route knowing that we had so many people behind us” continues Jason Pittman.

Stuart Lomax said, “I’m not sure that I can speak on behalf of us all but I would definitely consider another similar challenge in the future, once the blisters have healed”.
