In the North West, ECO/Green Deal Compliance Manager Jonathan Marsh came second runner up in the “Assessor of the Year” Category.

Jonathan is our Compliance Lead at A&M and his main focus is to ensure that all of our team members across the group remain up-to-date and work at the highest standards set by the industry. Jonathan is additionally a specialist U-Value calculator and he provides over 500 wall U-Value certificates per week.

In region South East, Martin Forward was awarded “Regional Assessor of the year”.

Martin carries out over 300 Green Deal Energy Assessment’s each year. He is one of our most accomplished assessors and we are very happy that his hard work and effort has been acknowledged at this level.

In region Wales we submitted the Sovereign Housing Warmer Homes project into the “Project of the Year” category. A&M was the leading contractor in this project, which provides warmer homes across 30 sites, for those families who were experiencing fuel poverty.

The project was given a High Commendation at the awards, which has been greatly received by all of those involved.

We are now looking forward to the National Green Deal and ECO Awards in June where we hope to be awarded for more of the excellent work which we deliver across England and Wales.

Big Energy Saving Week 2014

besw_logoThe week beginning 20 October 2014 marks the fourth Big Energy Saving Week; a national campaign to help people cut their fuel bills and get all the financial support they are entitled to.

There is some great information and videos to read and listen to on the Citizens Advice website.  Take a look and learn how you can make your home more energy efficient, whilst more importantly, reducing those energy bills.

http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/index/campaigns/current_campaigns/besw.htm

You could be saving up to £460* per year by installing insulation and with the average annual dual fuel bill now totaling £1,328 per year, we urge you to think smart and insulate now.

Incredibly around 60% of the heat in a home can be lost through uninsulated walls and roofs; but with the right measures put in place, you could make huge savings on your fuel bills.

For more information on how you could benefit from ECO funding to help make your home more energy efficient, please call us on 0800 318 867.

* Based on a detached gas heated house, with an 81% efficient gas boiler and average gas tariff of 4.21p/kWh and electricity tariff of 13.52 p/kWh; Figures from Energy Saving Trust and valid for 2014.

An additional £100m for household energy efficiency

More people will be able to enjoy warmer homes and more control of their energy bills as a result of an additional £100 million announced today for household energy efficiency.

Applications for a new phase of the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund, designed to help people make energy saving improvements to their home, will open to households before the end of November.

Further details including terms and conditions, rates and all measures to be covered will be announced in November.

Energy and Climate Change Secretary Edward Davey said:

“More money means more people can live in warmer, greener homes sooner.

“Green Deal Home Improvement Fund vouchers went like hot cakes earlier in the year and now even more people can cut their energy bills by making their homes more energy efficient.”

Energy and Climate Change Minister Amber Rudd said:

“We’ve already taken £50 off energy bills but we know that the best way for households to cut their bills is to use less energy.

“Over three quarters of a million homes have already had energy saving improvements installed as a result of the Energy Company Obligation and Green Deal schemes and it makes sense to help even more families install measures so that they see the benefits of lower bills and a warmer home for years to come.”

The £100 million announced today is in addition to the £450 million allocated to household energy efficiency over three years, which was announced in December 2013.

Notes to Editors:

  1. The Green Deal Home Improvement Fund was launched on June 9th 2014. It is currently closed to applications after the allocated funding was fully committed.
  2. Households in England and Wales can get advice on how to reduce their bills and make their homes more energy efficient from the Energy Saving Advice Service (ESAS) on 0300 123 1234 (calls charged at national rates).
