Cavity Wall Extraction

In some instances, cavity wall insulation may need to be extracted from walls. A&M is able to carry out the extraction with little disturbance to the home or commercial property.

Why would it need to be extracted?

Defective insulation material can break-down and release toxic gasses. Early foam insulation had this risk and was not covered by the same stringent BBA certification licences or given the same 30 year guarantee through the Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency (CIGA) as modern insulation materials

The cavity insulation gets wet, which breaks down the properties of the insulation. This can happen due to a number of reasons such as flooding, porous brickwork or mortar, or through a burst pipe in the attic.

Poorly installed cavity wall insulation, installed with an incorrect drilling pattern or at the wrong density can result in damp and condensation issues

How is it extracted?

The cavity wall insulation is extracted using an industrial size vacuum cleaner.  Our teams use a particular drilling pattern, starting at the base of the building working their way up, until all the insulation is removed.  A&M will discard of any waste removed from the property.

Can the insulation be replaced?

Once the cavity wall insulation has been extracted, we can survey the property and provide you with a quote for re-installing the insulation, which will fully adhere to current BBA guidelines.

If you have been a victim of the recent floods we have encountered or believe your cavity wall insulation may be defective in other ways, please call us now to discuss a free no obligation survey on 0800 318 867.
